Somewhere along the way, I stopped trying to see everything on a trip.

Now I’m much more interested in how a destination makes me feel.

A slow morning with coffee. A great book. A soak in the tub after a day of exploring.

This gifted stay in the Executive Suite at @prestigeresorts Rocky Mountain Resort reminded me that sometimes the hotel isn’t just where you sleep…it’s part of the destination.

I think we’ve forgotten that vacations aren’t supposed to leave us needing another vacation.

So here’s your reminder to leave a little room in your itinerary for doing absolutely nothing.

Because sometimes those are the moments you’ll remember most.

I’ve stayed in everything from luxury cruise ships to boutique hotels, but spending the night in a stationary train car? That was a first for me. Thank you to @PrestigeResorts for hosting me!

What I loved most wasn’t just how unique it was... it was the story behind it.

Cranbrook’s history is closely tied to the Canadian Pacific Railway, so staying in this beautifully restored rail car suite felt like stepping into a small piece of that history. It was cozy, peaceful, and one of those places that makes you want to slow down, pour another cup of coffee, and simply enjoy the moment.

If you’re planning a road trip through the Kootenays and you’re looking for a stay that’s a little different, I’d definitely add this one to your list.

I had the best day-trip adventure to Squamish Cany

I had the best day-trip adventure to Squamish Canyon on the first sunniest day in a while!

All I packed was a daypack, and honestly, it felt like freedom leaving most of my technology at home (except my phone and watch so I could track my steps, obviously 😅).

We explored the canyon as a group, and our tour guide was incredible; her storytelling made the experience feel so much more meaningful. It wasn’t just a walk… it felt like we were learning the place’s story as we moved through it.

And one of my favourite parts was stopping mid-walk for lunch on the boardwalk at the café area, with the gift shop and kids’ playground nearby. Such a perfect break before continuing on through the canyon.

If you’re craving fresh air, rainforest views, and a peaceful little reset, Squamish Canyon is absolutely worth adding to your list.
